Corriente Cattle

2012-SUNDANCE-LB-PICS-BY-LB-003These cattle descended from Spanish animals brought to the Americas in the late 15th Century. Today they are used as sport cattle for rodeo events. Some breeders raise them for their lean meat – significantly leaner than the meat of most modern beef cattle.

Corrientes are fairly small cattle – avg weight under 1,000 lbs. They are known as easy keepers as little human intervention is required in their calving and they eat significantly less than the big beef cattle.
